About Us
Woodpecker Creations
Our flutes are individually crafted one of a kind instruments that are designed as playable works of art. Themes for our flutes may repeat but every flute will be an individual so as to assure collectors of the one of a kind appearance they have come to expect from us. Even our standard flutes retain a unique appearance. Flamed inside and tuned with burning rods, you can smell the campfire in most of our creations. Tuned using electronic tuners for an even pitch throughout the scales, these flutes have a soothing woodlands voicing. Enjoy your visit and please take a moment to sign the guestbook!
Hello! We live 30 miles south of the Lake Erie shoreline in the north central part of Ohio. Our flute journey began in 1984 when being invited to share a fire after a pow wow, the sound of the native flute was heard in person for the first time. It only took once and we were sent on a journey that has become our life from then on! Having aquired a flute by Tsana` Dose`, I soon began the long journey of teaching myself flute making. Over the years I created alot of flutes using traditional Grandfather tunings and slowly learned my craft. Much to my total surprise, they started sounding better and better thanks to many prayers to Creator!! But still I didn`t feel totally in balance and continued on. The carved ends would come some what easily to me, another surprise, as I really can`t carve! And then I became re-acquainted with Kathleen`s many talents. Now the circle was beginning to close! Through much trial and error the flutes were beginning to get closer to what I thought they should be in my mind. About the time I switched over to the mode1&4 style of tuning, I met (but not in person!) a man who would close the circle for me and bring balance to my flutemaking. With his and Kathleen`s constructive criticism, I continued on, and with even more trial and error, I have arrived where I am now. STILL continuing on the learning path, but realizing now that I always will be!! Many, Many thanks to you Mac Lopez for having faith in me and sharing knowledge both in flutemaking and life, handed to you from your Brother Hawk Littlejohn. I cherish the things I have learned! So, I thank you Kathleen and Mac, for all you two have gifted me! One thing I have learned about flute makers. When flutemaking is approached in a Good Way, All flutemakers are `Equal`!! The only difference is possibly the location they are at on their journey. As a flutemaker, the best times are when a branch sings it`s first song and when a two legged first finds their `other voice`!!
