Well my friends, A short story. While doing a show in Dayton,
Ohio, a woman and a young lady (age 12) aproached my booth.
Both were very um.., attentive to the flutes I had on display. You
know, after years of flutemaking, you tend to be able to read

people. Well, I had never seen this`read` from a young girl like
this. Eventually the woman mentioned to me that the young lady
made flutes. Needless to say, i politely said that`s great. I asked
if she had brought one with her, she quietly and bashfully
nodded her head yes. So I asked her if I could see it. She pulled
the flute from it`s bag and handed it to me. As she did this the
woman mentioned she made it all by hand as the family has
chosen to live without electricity, even cooking on open flame.
So as I took the flute from her I began to realize this was to be the
highlite of my weekend. Friends, there were some of the finest
flutemakers in the country there and as usual when flutemakers
gather, we talked about construction methods, tools, ect..., And
here before me was a 12 year old girl who had created one awesome
flute, done traditionally, burnt holes and all, all by hand. I was humbled, seriously humbled! This flute was awesome! It`s energy radiated in my hands! I had her play me a song on it and then played her a song on it. My dear friends who had gone along to help me out said uh oh, Billy`s in love! Long story short, this little girl recieved an award for her flutemaking efforts. After humbly recieving her award, I went up and gifted her this pony flute. After all, Elders are our wisdom and young ones are our future. Although in this case I feel I saw both wisdom and the future! It was after meeting this wonderful child I learned she is legally blind just as Kosh is. Aho my friends what an honor to have met this young one, Morning Breeze. Billy
